Marysville, CA--The Portland Pickles responded from a series loss to the Lincoln Potters with an impressive 8-3 win over the Marysville Gold Sox on Friday night at Colusa Casino Stadium. The Pickles exploded for six runs in the third inning, sending 10 men to the plate in the frame, and never looked back.
Josh Hendrickson (8-1) took the victory for Portland, going six innings and allowing just one earned run, while striking out six Sox hitters. He leads the league in wins (8) and strikeouts (85). Dustin Redish had two hit-less innings to close out the game, striking out two.
Zander Clarke had a three-run home run in the third inning, and also drew four walks. Daniel Lopez had three hits, including an RBI double in the third inning. Bobby Kinne had two hits, including a two-run triple in the third. Alex Henwood also had two hits for the Pickles, an eighth inning double and an RBI single in the ninth.
Josh Savea (1-2) took the loss for the Gold Sox, going four innings and allowing six runs, with only one earned. He walked four and struck out two.
Devin Pettengill had two hits for Marysville, including an RBI double in the fifth inning.
Justin Cooney-Sylk and Darrel Doll also had two hits each on the night for the Gold Sox.
The Pickles (24-27) play the Gold Sox (19-32) again on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, and coverage will start at 7:00. The game can be heard on Sunny 1550 and will be streamed on picklesbaseball.com.
