Portland, OR--The Portland Pickles clinched a spot in the Great West League playoffs on Saturday night by virtue of beating the Marysville Gold Sox 7-6, meaning the Pickles will at least have the fourth seed in the playoffs. The top four teams make the playoffs, with the top seed playing the fourth seed and the second seed playing the third seed in the first round. The lower seed host game one and the higher seed hosts games two and three (if necessary) in a best-of-three-game series.
The Pickles have announced that tickets for the playoff opener on Sunday, August 6th
at Walker Stadium will be available starting Tuesday, August 1st at 10 am
. For tickets, fans can visit picklesbaseball.com
or call the Pickles office at 503-775-3080
It will be the first playoff game in franchise history, with the team narrowly missing out on the post-season tournament in it's inaugural season. The Pickles are currently six games back of the Chico Heat with seven games to play for the third seed. The Heat won the championship in 2016 over the Medford Rogues. Medford currently leads the Lincoln Potters by five games for the top seed.
Should the Pickles make the championship round, they would host the first game of that series as well, on Friday, August 11th.
