Portland, OR--The Portland Pickles lost the first game of their first round series against the Medford Rogues on Sunday night.  In a back-and-forth affair, the Rogues emerged victorious after scoring two runs in the eighth inning.  Both teams had a three-run sixth inning.  The series now shifts to Medford for game two.
Matt Hardy led the Pickles offense with a solo home run in the second inning and an RBI single in the fifth.  Alec Leighton had two hits on the night, a double in the third and an RBI single in the sixth inning.  Bobby Kinne finished with three hits, including a fifth inning double.  He scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.
Josh Hendrickson had a no-decision, going seven innings, allowing five runs, and striking out eleven hitters.  Nick Torres earned the loss, allowing the two eighth inning runs from the Rogues.
Alex Isola hit a solo home run for the Rogues in the third inning and Dante Gutierrez hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Connor Lowrie drove in the game tying run in the eighth and Jake Hellweg scored the go-ahead run on a botched pick-off attempt later in the eighth.

The Pickles and Rogues are off Monday, and will face-off in Game 2 on Tuesday at Harry & David Field in Medford. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35, and coverage will start at 6:30. The game can be heard on Sunny 1550 and will be streamed on picklesbaseball.com.
