Portland, OR - Rose City Baseball announced today the promotion of Gregg Swenson to Director of Baseball Operations for the Portland Pickles in addition to his role as General Manager of the Gresham GreyWolves.
In his duties, Swenson will coordinate all game-day partnership operations in Gresham, as well as lead player recruitment and development for both teams.
Swenson served as the GM of the GreyWolves in 2017. Rose City Baseball purchased the GreyWolves on November 2nd and the organization made a point to retain and expand Swenson's role with the Pickles.
"I have known Gregg for a long time now," said Bill Stewart, Co-Owner of Rose City Baseball. "We are excited to bring him aboard as Director of Baseball Operations given the amount of experience he has at the college level."
A veteran of college baseball the past 23 seasons, Swenson joins the front office after stops at four well-renowned schools in the Pacific Northwest.
Prior to 2017, Swenson spent the two previous seasons as the Assistant Coach and Pitching Coach for the Portland Pilots. He coached for several years at the University of Washington as well, where he helped the Huskies reach three-straight NCAA Championships (2002-04) as an Assistant Coach. Before Washington, Swenson served as the Head Coach at Tacoma Community College, where he played two seasons (1990-91). Swenson also coached at Washington State University for ten seasons. The Cougars made two NCAA postseason appearances.
