Medford, OR---The Portland Pickles made a game of it on Wednesday night at Harry & David Field, but in the end, the Medford Rogues were able to seal the win, winning by a final score of 6-5 on a walk-off sacrifice fly from Dante Gutierrez.
Kelechi Anyanwu scored on a wild pitch in the first inning for the Pickles, and again on an error in the fifth inning. Aidan Malm scored on another wild pitch in the fifth, and the Pickles got a sacrifice fly from Joey Cooper in the fifth and a go-ahead RBI single from Griffin Mueller in the seventh.
Medford was led by a three hit performance by Davis Delorefice, including a solo home run in the fourth inning. Alex Isola had two RBIs on the night for the Rogues.
Pickles starting pitcher Max Jones went 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs. Jake Allbee (0-1) took the loss for Pickles, allowing the tying and winning runs of the game.
Medford starting pitcher Jordan Ragan left the game with an injury after recording two outs. Reliever Aaron Hutchinson (1-0) took the win for the Rogues, who had two different relievers go 3+ innings on the night.
The Pickles (6-8) play the Rogues (9-5) again tomorrow night, in the finale of the three game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35, and coverage will start at 6:30. The game can be heard on Sunny 1550, and streaming on picklesbaseball.com.
