Medford, OR---The Medford Rogues earned their second straight walk-off victory over the Portland Pickles on Thursday night at Harry & David Field by a final score of 6-4. The Rogues won Wednesday on a walk-off sacrifice fly and tonight on a walk-off grand slam from Alex Isola. Pickles closer Jake Allbee (0-2) took the loss for the second straight night after allowing the slam. Portland led 4-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning.
Bobby Kinne scored the first run of the game for the Pickles on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, and the Pickles scored two more in the sixth inning on a Medford throwing error, one of five on the night for the Rogues. Matt Starcovic hit his second home run of the season in the top of the ninth inning, putting the Pickles up two runs.
Connor Lowrie gave Medford an RBI single in the eighth inning, and Caleb Smith had a sacrifice fly for the Rogues in the second inning.
Jack Gordon went 5.2 innings for the Pickles in his first start of the season, allowing just one hit, and one run, but walking five on the night. Mitch Maynes induced a pair of rally-killing double plays out of the Pickles bullpen.
Rogues starting pitcher Jaiden France struck out five Pickles in six innings. Bobby Wood (2-0) earned the win out of the Medford bullpen, going two innings and striking out five batters.
The Pickles (6-9) travel to Chico next for a three game set against the Heat (10-5) at Nettleton Stadium, starting Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, and coverage will start at 7:00. The game can be heard on Sunny 1550, and streaming on picklesbaseball.com.
