Portland, OR---The Portland Pickles dominated the Yuba City Bears on Wednesday night at Walker Stadium, behind an impressive start from Josh Hendrickson (3-0), who pitched into the ninth inning. Hendrickson went 8.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out a season high 14 batters. Tate Budnick recorded the final two outs for the Pickles, in his first pitching appearance of the season.
The Pickles offense came alive as well, as the team hit four home runs on the night, with Joey Cooper, Daniel Lopez, Zander Clarke, and Alex Henwood all going deep. Cooper, Lopez, and Clarke each had three hits on the night, with Cooper and Lopez driving in three runs each. Matt Hardy also drove in a run for Portland.
Bears starting pitcher Ben Purcell (0-3) took the loss for the Bears, allowing seven earned runs in 3.1 innings.
The Pickles (10-11) are off Thursday, and will host the Lincoln Potters on Friday night at Walker Stadium. 1972 World Series MVP Gene Tenace will be signing autographs during the game.
