Portland, OR---The Portland Pickles scored early and often on Friday night, beating the expansion Lincoln Potters by a final score of 14-7 in the first game of a three game weekend series. The Pickles had five home runs on the right, including three in a row in the third inning, blowing the game wide open.
The Pickles got back-to-back-to-back home runs in the third inning from Zander Clarke, Matt Hardy, and Koty Fallon. Clarke added a grand slam in the seventh, and Fallon added a three run shot in the fourth. Fallon finished with three hits on the night. Joey Cooper, Bobby Kinne and Alex Henwood each drove in a run for Portland.
Hardy started the game for the Pickles on the mound, and hit for himself, a rarity in the Great West League. He lasted four innings and gave up four runs, striking out four. Devin McKesson (1-0) earned the win for the Pickles in relief, throwing two innings out of the bullpen.
Potters starting pitcher Hector Sepulveda (2-2) took the loss, allowing six runs in three innings, four of the runs were earned.
Isaiah Garcia had a home run and three RBIs on the night for Lincoln, registering three hits. Jake Boyd also had three hits and an RBI for the Potters.
The Pickles (11-11) host the Potters (13-9) again on Saturday night at Walker Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, and coverage will start at 7:00.
