Marysville, CA---The Portland Pickles had a bounce back victory over the Yuba City Bears on Wednesday, one night after blowing a late 2-0 lead in the series opener. They jumped out to a 7-1 lead, and survived a four run eighth inning from the Bears to win by a final score of 7-5.
Renner Stecki had three hits and an RBI on the night for the Pickles, and Koty Fallon and Zander Clarke each finished with two hits and an RBI. Alec Leighton drove in two on a double in the fifth, and scored on an error in the seventh. Tyler Stofiel also drove in a run, his first with the Pickles.
Pickles starting pitcher Josh Hendrickson (4-0) had another masterful outing, striking out nine Bears hitters in six innings and allowing just one run, earning his league-leading fourth victory on the season. Sam Muskat earned the save, allowing just one hit in two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Dominic Diana drove in two runs on the night for the Bears, and Josh Winkler had two hits and an RBI, and stole home on a delayed double steal in the eighth inning.
Ryan Brown (1-2) took the loss for the Bears. The starter gave up three earned runs in four innings, and struck out six Pickles batters.
The Pickles (12-14) face the Bears (8-18) again tomorrow night in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, and coverage will start at 7:00. The game can be heard on Sunny 1550, and streaming on picklesbaseball.com.
