PICKLES CAN'T HOLD LEAD AS ROGUES RALLY AGAIN

July 1st

Medford, OR--After the Pickles scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning in Medford, it looked as if they would finally be able to best the first-place Medford Rogues.  However, Medford responded with two of their own runs to take a 6-5 lead, and held on to win the game by the same margin.  The Rogues now lead the season series five games to none.

Zander Clarke had three hits and two RBIs on the night for the Pickles, and Matt Hardy also drove in two runs on two hits. Clarke had run scoring singles in the fourth and eighth innings, and Hardy drove in two on a double, also in the eighth.  Joey Cooper added a pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Pickles starting pitcher Jack Gordon turned in a solid start, allowing three earned runs in six innings in a no-decision.  Mike Gagliardi (0-1) took the loss after allowing two unearned runs in two innings out of the Pickles bullpen.  The Pickles had three errors on the night.

Medford starter Peyton Fuller was perfect through 3.1 innings, and finished with two earned runs in 6.2 innings, striking out four batters.  Will Floyd (1-1) earned the win out of the Rogues bullpen, and Taylor Frost earned his fourth save.

Jake Hellweg hit his first home run of the season for the Rogues in the second inning. Dante Gutierrez drove in two runs on a single in the sixth inning, Eric Yang had an RBI single later in the inning, and the Rogues tacked on the tying run on an RBI single from Braden Stutzman in the eighth, who scored the go-ahead run later in the inning.

The Pickles (13-16) play the Rogues (22-8) again tomorrow night at Harry & David Field in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35, and coverage will start at 6:30. The game can be heard on Sunny 1550, and streaming on picklesbaseball.com.
