Medford, OR--The Portland Pickles jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Medford Rogues on Sunday night at Harry & David Field, and then fell behind 5-3 after the fifth inning. However, the Pickles responded with seven unanswered runs and finished with a 10-6 victory over the first place Rogues.
Max Jones (2-1) pitched into the ninth inning for the Pickles. He struck out two batters and allowed three earned runs on the night. Sam Muskat recorded the final out and earned the save, his second of the year.
Colin Rubino reached base six times on the night, walking three times, getting hit by a pitch, and recording two hits, including an RBI. Alex Henwood had two hits and an RBI on the night. Matt Hardy, Tate Budnick, Griffin Mueller, and Alec Leighton also recorded RBIs for the Pickles. Zander Clarke saw a 12 game hitting streak come to an end.
Dylan Pearce went five innings for the Rogues in a no-decision. He walked five and struck out five, allowing two earned runs. Malik Evans (2-3) earned the loss, allowing two earned runs. Rogues pitchers issued 11 walks on the night.
The Pickles (14-16) host the Rogues (22-9) tomorrow night at Walker Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and coverage will start at 7:00.
