Portland, OR--The Portland Pickles split a doubleheader on Monday at Walker Stadium. In the early game, they beat the Perth Heat 13-2, with Renner Stecki hitting a two-run home run and Kelechi Anyanwu driving in three runs. Mitch Maynes earned the victory, going five solid innings and striking out three. Cooper Webster went two hitless innings, striking out four batters.
In the nightcap, the Pickles fell to the Medford Rogues by a final score of 5-4. Josh Hendrickson (1-4) took his first loss of the season, going 6.2 innings and striking out nine batters, allowing five runs. Dustin Redish struck out five in 2.1 innings, and did not allow a hit.
Matt Hardy had two hits and two RBIs on the night, and Alex Henwood also collected two hits for the Pickles.
Alex Isola led the Rogues with a home run, a double, and four total RBIs. Rogues starter Jamie Flynn allowed one earned fun in 4.1 innings, and Scotty Wright (1-1) earned the victory, striking out six batters out of the bullpen in 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit. Taylor Frost earned his fifth save.
The Pickles (14-17) host the Rogues (23-9) again tomorrow night at Walker Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and coverage will start at 7:00.
