About the Team: The Portland Pickles are a collegiate wood bat baseball team founded in 2015 and based in Portland, Oregon. They are the newest team in the West Coast League and play their home games at Walker Stadium, in Portland's Lents Park. The Pickles are all about FUN, and are recognized for presenting the best entertainment package in the Portland area. Pickles baseball is affordable family entertainment. The Pickles offer special discounts to groups and fundraisingopportunities for organizations throughout the community.

Job Description: The Portland Pickles Baseball Club is looking for reliable and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry. Interns will get the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of different areas, including but not limited to: box office/ticketing, ticket sales, merchandise,game-day/stadium operations, fan experience, community relations and concessions. A rotation will be utilized to ensure all interns experience all areas.

Example responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with individual, package and group ticket sales. Assisting with execution of promotional schedule including distribution of promotional items in stadium. Understanding and operation of ticketing software, including box office shifts. Interns will also be able to provide input on fan experience and community relations’ initiatives.

Job Requirements: Interns are expected to be respectful, prompt and eager to accomplish any task given to them. Ability to work long hours, weekends, and 30 out of 36 home games during the 2018 Portland Pickles season. Attendance and assistance at additional non-game day events is requested when needed.

Ideal candidates should possess the following traits: detail oriented, strong work ethic, problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills, a teamwork mentality, ability to work under pressure and a positive attitude. Strong PC skills including experience with all Microsoft programs is desired. 

Learning outcomes: An internship with the Portland Pickles is ideal for those looking to try out different jobs in a sport environment with the ability to find a focus that fits them as the season progresses. Interns will be able to experience many aspects of operating a minor level sports team and executing events (game-days). This exposure to various aspects of the sport industry will provide interns with valuable learning experiences that can help them decide on a career path moving forward.
