Dylan Smith Signs With the Pickles

Dylan Smith, Northern Colorado ace, has signed with the Pickles! The righty was in the starting rotation for the Bears as a true freshman and has picked up right where he left off for the 2024 season.

Smith tabbed a career-high nine strikeouts and a complete-game shutout against South Dakota State last season and was a top prospect in the state of California coming out of high school. He has an extensive pitch kit that gives opposing batters nightmares and will be a major contributor this summer for the Pickles.

Portland Pickles Manager, Mark Magdaleno, had this to say about the signing:

“Smith has a three-pitch mix. He throws the fastball, slider, and changeup for strikes. He works in the low-to-mid-90s. He has all the characteristics that I look for when I recruit our roster. He is talented, competes, and is a high-character individual. University of Northern Colorado Head Coach Mike Anderson and Assistant Coach Shane Opitz have sent us another quality young man.”
