Shay Timmer Signs With the Pickles

Shay Timmer, stud pitcher and standout at Salt Lake Community College, has signed with the Pickles! The highly-touted prospect is a towering six-foot-10 and brings uses that frame to throw a scorching fastball that tops out at 97 mph, along with a deadly slider and change-up to keep batters on their heels.

The Utah native was ranked the seventh-best pitching prospect in the state coming out of high school in 2021. He has interest from a wide variety of division one colleges and will be showing his stuff in Portland this summer against West Coast League competition.

Portland Pickles Manager, Mark Magdaleno, had this to say about the signing:

“Shay is a presence at 6’10” 275. His sinker sits 92-94 with a downhill angle. He features a sweeping slider and swing-and-miss change-up. He’s topped out at 97. And his pitching coach, Jeremy Berg, played for me in 2007, so I know we are getting a quality competitor who will represent us on and off the field.”
